The programme was basically organised for the villages located around IIT Kanpur to spread the awareness regarding the dreaded disease.

The programme started with a formal welcome by Lt. Col. D.K. Routray, and brief address by Dr. Kamal Sahni. This was followed by a talk by Dr. S.N. Prasad about various kinds of cancer, their chief causes, and the current medical methods being employed to get rid of this menace. The biggest cause of cancer, he observed, was the habit of tobacco chewing, which is widely prevalent in rural India. He stressed that chewing of tobacco increases the risk factor for occurrence of cancer many times. The public was encouraged to raise queries about the disease which were patiently explained by Dr.Prasad.

Dr.Kamal Sahni encouraged the public and the NCC Cadets in particular to spread the awareness and the knowledge which they had gained in this programme. Lt.Col.D.K.Routray delivered the vote of thanks to the Doctors for having spared their precious time to spread awareness about such a deadly disease. This was followed by a tea party for all the cadets and distinguished guests at the NCC Complex.
