Amit Dutta

Ph.D. (Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, 2000) PROFESSOR

Dr. Amit Dutta joined the department in 2003. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Jadavpur University in 2000 while working at the Condensed matter physics group of the Saha Institute for Nuclear Physics, Kolkata. His Ph.D. topic was the study of quantum phase transitions in quantum Ising models and quantum rotor models in the presence of quenched disorder. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Max-Plank-Institut fur Physik Komplexer Systeme, Dresden and the Institut fur Theoretishe Physik, Universitat Wurzburg.

His present research interests are in one-dimensional and quasi-one-dimensional spin and electron ysstems, classical and quantum phase transitions in different random systems and non-equilibrium dynamics of magnetic and non-magnetic systems.
