Sudeep Bhattacharjee

Ph.D. (RIKEN) 1999 PROFESSOR

Dr. Sudeep Bhattacharjee joined the Department in October 2004. He obtained his Ph.D. on a Japanese Government Ministry of Education , Science and Culture (Monbusho) scholarship in March 1999 from the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN), Japan and Saitama University, Japan. Subsequently he worked as a Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow (Kisotokken) at RIKEN (1999-2001). Thereafter he carried out research at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (2001 – 2004). 

Prior to his doctoral work, he did post M.Sc course work as a research scholar at the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) (1993 – 1994), Gandhinagar, India, where he held the position of a Research Scientist for a year (1995) prior to going abroad for doctoral studies. 

Dr. Bhattacharjee is an experimental physicist whose research interests include Plasma Physics, Focused Ion Beams, Nanoscale Physics and Electromagnetic wave interaction with plasmas. His current research includes development of a compact microwave plasma based multi-element focused ion beam system, nanoscale physics using focused ion beams and interaction of electromagnetic waves with plasmas.
