duration 8-13 February 2021

About the Course

This course addresses the issues surrounding the multilingual nature of Indian classrooms and how it affects the teaching of English in the higher education. While there is an increasing recognition of learners’ linguistic background in terms of their access to and ease of learning English language, the sociolinguistic and pedagogical perspectives need further considerations on the grassroots level. This course is designed to address the questions of the sociolinguistic status of linguistic diversity, recognition of functional domains of language, creative processes that articulate local identities at various levels among other pertinent issues.
