SIIC Student Innovation Award:

Ratnangshu Das and his team won SIIC Student Innovation Award for the best innovative project in path-breaking technology of global importance in any domain.

Abstract: “India is renowned around the world for its prowess as an agricultural nation. Our ability to cultivate rare spices has impacted generations of people around the world. As our nation marches towards self-sufficiency, the need of the hour now lies in automating our agricultural practices. The project aims at automating the process of Saffron production, a spice that is unique as well as valuable around the world. Combining the concepts of computer vision, assembly line, pneumatics, and vibrational dynamics, the team proposes a novel machine for automating this process of saffron stigma separation. Besides endeavouring to solve the global problem of agricultural-based drudgery, it would lead to unlocking the untapped potential of saffron production in India, boosting the economy, and helping the country fortify its position as a leader in saffron production.”
