SMSS Lab Visit: Guest of Honour Dr. Manoj Gonuguntla

Prof. Bishakh Bhattacharya invited Dr. Manoj Gonuguntla [Member, Board of Governors (BoG), IIT Kanpur] to visit our SMSS Laboratory on 29-June-2022. Dr. Gonuguntla has received his Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur (2006) and has been working as a Senior Materials & Corrosion Engineer at Shell Technology Centre, Bangalore, with 16+ years of extensive industry experience. He has shown a keen interest in our projects and ongoing research, especially in the area of robotics systems.

The lab members showcased live demonstration of AgroTech robots,Bioinspired SMA based actuators, Gripper system based on soft robotics, Pipe health monitoring robot, Cognitive robotics - Child Robot Interaction using NAO and state-of-the-art Laser Doppler Vibrometer among others. Through this visit, we got a chance to interact and receive critical inputs and feedback from the industry expert. This would definitely help us make our system more in line with the market demand and expectations and will open up the path for research collaboration in the near future.
