The Engineering Geosciences Group in the Civil Engineering Department at IIT Kanpur offers several undergraduate level courses and post-graduate programmes that includes M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Engineering Geosciences for the past 25 years.
The major objective of this group is to utilize the expertise in earth sciences, such as active tectonics, climate change and response of earth systems, geomorphology, remote sensing, paleoseismology, geochemistry of sediments, mantle evolution, paleoclimate, sedimentology and environmental geology within the Geosciences Group to prepare a modern breed of geoscientists. The Geosciences Laboratory is well-equipped with modern facilities. The faculty members and students are involved in high quality research in Geosciences.
