All MSc.male students have to pay an amount of 9000/- through SBI I-Collect as a mess and eletricity advance, under the following categories: State-Uttar Pradesh, Type of Corporate Institute- Educational Institute, Institute name- Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Payment Category- Hall 13, JAM Enrollment Number, Current month mess dues- 9000/-. Other numeric fields are to be filled with 0. Other non-numeric fields are to be filled with a '-'.

Students are supposed to report to their respective halls (see hall allocation) on July 19th or 20th, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Students are required to report to their respective Halls of residence on the mentioned reporting dates. Students may not report before 19th July. If due to some reason, they arrive before 19th July, they are requested to report to their Hall of Residence only on the aforementioned date.
All male students are requested to report to Hall XI and all female students are requested to report to GHT.
Starting at a college can feel like stepping into an unknown, but there is no need to worry, The Orientation Programme is organised to acquaint the students with the institute and helps them in their smooth transition into the Institute.
The adjustement in a new environment can be daunting. You may be incredibly excited to come to campus but at the same time you may also feel nervous or unsure about what to expect. Everyone has these mixed emotions and the Orientation program is designed to make the transition to IITK as seamless as possible.
Things to carry
You are advised to bring the following with you. These are also available in the Shopping Center at IIT Kanpur.
- Two locks (One each for your room and wardrobe)
- Mattress, pillow, linen, winter clothing, alarm clock, umbrella, raincoat etc.
- A scientific calculator (preferably with complex number functions)
