Prayas

PRAYAS, an endeavor of IIT Kanpur students, is primarily focused on providing education to marginalized children, at least up to a level where they too can dream big. In PRAYAS, we strive to inspire children to dream and empower them to achieve those dreams through education, firmly believing that 'साधारित प्रयास बहुत से जीवनों में रंग भर सकता है' - a simple effort can fill colors in many lives.

Raktarpan

Blood cannot be manufactured in factories; it can only come from generous donors. To cater to this demand, Raktarpan was launched as a project under NSS IIT Kanpur with an unparalleled objective of solving the problem of blood shortage in India.Raktarpan acts as a channel connecting voluntary blood donors with those who need blood. It is a youth-run organization and provides free help and specially works to target the poor and the needy. Since its inception, the organization has grown a lot in terms of working for this cause. Raktarpan has developed a 360 degree solution to the problem of blood shortage.

Unmukt

Unmukt is a students’ collective of IIT Kanpur which acts as a forum for gender and sexual diversity. We raise issues and awareness on all topics related to gender and sexuality and focus on communities which are marginalized along these constituencies. Being recently constituted as a wing under the Community Welfare Cell, Students’ Gymkhana ,we are now focusing on reaching out to the entire IIT Kanpur community in our endeavours. We are constantly negotiating our physical and non-physical spaces and are trying to be heard in places that we were never seen in before. We are an ally group for gender- and sexuality-marginalized communities too.

Vivekanand Samiti

Vivekananda Samiti channels Swami Vivekananda's teachings into practical activities, fostering positive energy and contributing to the IIT-K community and nation-building. Events encompass talks on Vedanta, ancient India, and permaculture, alongside self-belief exercises and social services like health camps. Weekly discussions, Vedanta and Sanskrit classes, and the distribution of Vivekananda literature engage the youth. This year, emphasis was on enhancing students' soft skills, leadership, and personality development for campus placements, reflecting the Samiti's commitment to holistic individual growth and societal impact.
