Eligibility Requirements:
- The eligibility conditions given below are the absolute minimum. Departments may prescribe any requirements over and above.
- The specified minimum marks/CPI (Cumulative Performance Index), referred to in subsequent sections, implies a minimum of 55 percent marks /5.5 (on a 10 point scale) as long as it is not less than the minimum pass marks/CPI; otherwise, the specified minimum marks/CPI implies the minimum pass marks/CPI.

M.Sc. (2 Years) Economics | Economics Sciences | The minimum eligibility criterion is first class in the applicant's undergraduate degree. Applicants who satisfy this criterion will have to first take the GATE or JAM examination either in economics (GATE-HSS (Economics) or JAM-Economics) or in any other discipline. |
Diploma of IIT (DIIT) Programme |

(i) Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering / Mining Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science / Electronics Engineering / Information Technology / Geoinformatics or Master of Science in Earth Science and related areas or Geography / Physics/ Mathematics/ Environmental Sciences. Candidates with MSc degree must have mathematics as one of the subjects at BSc level. (ii) The GATE requirement is waived off for candidates in the DIIT programme. The applicant must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Master's degree in science with marks/CPI not below 55% marks (or Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 5.5 on a 10-point scale) or minimum pass marks (or CPI) whichever is greater. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes who have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a Master's degree in Science are eligible to apply irrespective of the marks/CPI. The proposed DIIT programme is primarily for working professionals in Government Department/Institutions, Industry, Faculty members in Academic Institutions involved in teaching and R&D in Geoinformatics. |
Financial Assistanships:
Financial support (in the form of Institute Assistantship) is available to the regular (non-sponsored) students of MS (By Research) and PhD Programmes.
The student is expected to carry out the assigned duties during the programme. The MS (By Research) students are currently entitled to a monthly assistantship of Rs. 12400/- for 8 hours of work per week. For PhD students the corresponding financial support amounts to Rs. 37000/- for the first two years, and thereafter, it is raised to Rs. 42000/- for another three years.
Students may also avail financial assistantship from external funding agencies (such as UGC/CSIR/NBHM/INSPIRE/DBT/ICAR/ICMR/PMRF etc.).
In addition to the above, several attractive fellowships from Industry/DAE are also available.
