Vedang R. Vatsa

DUMMY Over the past two years, DUMMY has established himself as a pioneer in the area of social impact investing. Since founding Turner Impact Capital in 2014, he has rapidly built one of the nation’s largest social impact investment firms, with over $2.5 billion in investment potential to help address some of the country’s most pervasive social issues with real estate solutions.
As former Chairman, CEO and Co-Founding Partner of Canyon Capital Realty Advisors LLC (CCRA), he oversaw a commercial real estate and mortgage asset portfolio totaling over $12 billion, and was responsible for launching several groundbreaking funds that helped define the “triple bottom line” investment movement. In his years as a social impact innovator, Bobby has dedicated himself to providing sound financial returns for investors while fostering opportunities for the communities in which his funds invest.
Bobby is involved in many civic ventures, having served on the boards of the Virginia Avenue Project, the Pacific Charter School Development Corporation, and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City. He holds a B.S. in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he and his wife have endowed a curriculum development fund and speaker series for social impact studies. He also serves on the school’s Board of Overseers. On Sundays, you can find him playing basketball at the beach in Santa Monica.
Dan Millman
Principal and Chief Operating Officer

A co-founder of Turner Impact Capital, Dan plays a role in all of the firm’s investment strategies and focuses particularly on investment performance, financing, treasury management, investor reporting, and overall firm operations.
Immediately prior Turner Impact Capital, Dan oversaw all equity and debt investments for Canyon Capital Realty Advisors, where he was a Principal, Head of Asset Management, and a member of the investment and executive committees. While at Canyon, Dan developed and implemented several ground-breaking real estate funds including the $200mm Canyon Catalyst Fund and the $200mm Canyon Multifamily Impact Fund. Prior to Canyon, Dan held various leadership roles with publicly-traded real estate owners.
Dan has served on numerous civic and charitable boards and is currently the chair of the University of Maryland Incentive Awards Advisory Committee, a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Maryland College Park Foundation, and a member of both the Pension Real Estate Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland (B.A., Economics).
Bari Cooper Sherman

Bari Cooper Sherman is co-founder of Turner Impact Capital. Bari oversees the day-to-day legal aspects to Turner Impact’s business and strategic planning as well as all fund formations and investor partnerships and negotiations.
Bari has been a practicing attorney since 1990. Bari was formerly the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Canyon Capital Realty Advisors LLC (CCRA). As CCRA’s first General Counsel, Bari built CCRA’s in-house legal department. She was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day legal aspects of CCRA’s business as well as all fund formations, separate accounts and investor partnerships. Bari was a member of the CCRA investment committee and the CCRA executive committee.
Bari currently serves on the board of New LA Charter Schools, a Los Angeles-based charter school operator serving elementary and middle school students. She is a graduate of The George Washington University (BBA, Finance; JD).
Glenn Pierce
Principal & President of Education Initiatives

Glenn Pierce has been a leader in the development of charter schools since 1997. As President of Education Initiatives, Glenn is responsible for the oversight and management of all Turner-Agassi investment opportunities across the country.
Throughout his career, Glenn has developed over 120 charter schools in fifteen states and the District of Columbia, creating over 50,000 incremental student seats for best-in-class operators across the United States. Prior to joining Turner Impact Capital, Glenn was CEO and President of Canyon-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund where he was responsible for the oversight and management of all Canyon-Agassi investment opportunities.
Glenn is a graduate of Lafayette College (B.A., Economics) and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (M.B.A.) and the Broad Center for Urban Superintendents. Glenn serves as Chairman of the South Florida Autism Charter Schools.
Gee S. Kim
Principal & President of Multifamily Housing Initiatives

Gee Kim is a Principal of Turner Impact Capital and President of its Multifamily Housing Initiatives. As part of his overall responsibility for the firm’s multifamily housing investment activities, Gee oversees all deal origination, due diligence, financing, asset management, and social/environmental impact initiatives and programs.
Previously, Gee served as Director at Canyon Capital Realty Advisors LLC (CCRA), overseeing the Canyon Multifamily Impact Fund, a $200mm joint venture with Citibank designed to promote long-term, material, positive impact in underserved communities by investing in rental properties as an active owner and manager.
Gee is a LEED Accredited Professional, a California registered broker (DRE#: 01903210), and was formerly a NASD Series 7 and 63 licensed professional. He is active in his community, having worked for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Housing and Business Team and a local non-profit economic development organization, as well as having served on the boards of non-profits. Gee is a graduate of Stanford University (B.S., Earth Systems and B.A., Economics), Harvard Business School (M.B.A.), and the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government (M.P.A.)
Gabriel Quezada
Vice President

As Vice President, Gabriel Quezada is responsible for sourcing, underwriting and diligence of new investment opportunities. Gabe is also responsible for asset management of closed investments, including finance placement.
Before joining Turner Impact Capital, Gabriel primarily focused on multifamily investment opportunities for AIG Global Real Estate in both their Los Angeles and New York City offices. He began his professional career with Trimont Real Estate Advisors, working on a broad range of real estate transactions including residential, retail, hospitality, multifamily, office and industrial development projects. Later, he worked with TVP Asset, Inc., managing joint ventures and opportunistic real estate investments throughout the western United States before taking time to return to MIT to complete his formal education.
Gabriel is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. (B.S., Finance) and the MIT Sloan School of Management (M.B.A.) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Carmen Maldonado
Regional Director – Northeast
Brooklyn, NY
Carmen Maldonado manages the fund’s operational and business development efforts in the Northeast region. Carmen also designs and implements education and enrichment programs for the firm’s multifamily housing communities.
Prior to Turner-Agassi, Carmen was the Director of Real Estate for the KIPP Foundation where she supported and advised the national KIPP network of schools in the real estate process. During her career at KIPP, she devised the Foundation’s Early Stage Revolving Loan Fund, for short-term tenant improvements, and the KIPP Foundation Credit Enhancement Program (KCEP) which in four years leveraged $80 million in charter school leases and loans.
Prior to KIPP, Carmen was a Program Officer for the New York City office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, working with community development corporations across NYC to secure financing for affordable housing and community facilities. Ms. Maldonado is a graduate of Baruch College (M.A. Public Administration) and of the University of Pennsylvania (M.S.Ed. Elementary Education, B.A. Communications).
Roshan Sonthalia
Director and Senior Counsel

As Director and Senior Counsel of Turner Impact Capital, Roshan Sonthalia works across Turner Impact Capital’s various funds focusing on investor relations, acquisitions and asset management.
Roshan brings over 13 years of real estate industry experience to Turner Impact Capital. Previously, Roshan was counsel at Canyon Capital Realty Advisors LLC, working across their various real estate funds to coordinate matters related to investors, originations, acquisitions and asset management. He began his legal career as a real estate attorney with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in their real estate practice in Los Angeles, working on a broad range of transactional matters with clients that included private equity funds, developers, buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, borrowers and lenders.
Roshan is a proud UCLA alum, where he received his BA in Economics and History, his JD, and MBA.
Sharon Hwang
Program Manager

As a Program Manager, Sharon Hwang helps assist in acquisition due diligence, designs and implements resident-focused programs throughout the portfolio, and measures and improves social impact metrics.
Prior to joining Turner Impact Capital, Sharon held roles including Investor Relations at Watershed Asset Management, Special Projects for ESL Investments/Sears Holdings, and Sales & Trading at Lehman Brothers. Sharon graduated from Yale University (B.A., Political Science) and the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (M.A., International Economics and International Relations).
Randy Slaughter
Senior VP of Operations, Safety and Security

Randy Slaughter is Senior Vice President of Operations, Safety & Security at Turner Impact Capital. He is responsible for all aspects of security related to properties in the Turner Multifamily Impact Fund and Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund portfolios. He supports the team by identifying, quantifying and mitigating risk at each property, and develops innovative methods to promote safe environments through the use of community-centered approaches to security, local partnerships and advanced technology.
Randy is a national leader who has applied best practices in law enforcement by integrating security programs for a variety of real estate asset classes. For the past 12 years, he provided consultative, investigative and protective services to Canyon Partners and its international portfolio. During his 20-year law enforcement career, Randy was a Task Force Officer with the DEA and served a leading police department in Southern California as a detective, SWAT team member, gang liaison officer and other roles. He started his career as a member of the Military Police of the United States Marine Corps.
He holds undergraduate and master’s degrees from California State University, Long Beach.
Tom Bilinski
Construction Manager

Tom Bilinski manages the construction of charter school projects in the Northwest and Southwest regions. Tom has been in the commercial construction industry for 29 years and has been a General Contractor for the past 20 years in the State of California.
Tom’s knowledge of commercial construction, public assemblies and data infrastructure has enabled him to implement cost-effective building methods for charter schools. Tom started working in music and movie production studio facilities and progressed into the ground-up construction and refurbishment of commercial buildings. Prior to joining the Turner-Agassi team, Tom, was a Consultant to General Contractors in the State of California working on custom homes, public assemblies, commercial properties and charter schools. He has been involved in the construction of 9 charter school facilities over the past 3 years, including gymnasium and performing arts centers. His knowledge of commercial construction, public assemblies and data infrastructure has enabled him to implement cost-effective building methods for charter schools.
Lynne Lovasco
Assistant Vice President of Investor Relations

Lynne Lovasco is responsible for the overview of fund level returns, capital contributions, fund distributions as well as overseeing quarterly investor reporting. Previously, Lynne was with Canyon Capital Realty Advisors LLC (CCRA), as a Fund Accountant and Investor Liaison.
Prior to joining CCRA, Lynne served as an Assistant General Manager and Property Accountant for Center Trust, a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT), overseeing a 1.1 million square foot retail center. Lynne has a long history with affordable housing: she began her career at Skid Row Housing Trust, a non-profit corporation specializing in the construction and redevelopment of Section 8 housing in downtown Los Angeles.
Lynne is a graduate of Woodbury University (BBA, Management, summa cum laude).
Carlos Figueroa III
Construction Manager

In his role as Construction Manager, Carlos manages charter school projects in the West region, ranging from ground-up to major renovations. Carlos Figueroa III began his career creating charter schools while working at Pacific Charter School Development where he was on the team that brought California it’s first-ever LEED Certified middle & high school.
Prior to Turner-Agassi, Carlos was most recently a Project Manager for the Anning – Johnson Company, where he was responsible for the construction management of many projects, including the iconic Broad Museum, a unique Design-Build museum that will receive a LEED Silver certification.
Carlos is a graduate of California Polytechnic University, Pomona (B.S. Construction Engineering) where he and his team ranked 3rd in the nation for Concrete Solutions. Carlos likes to share his extensive construction expertise whenever he can – he mentors Eagle Scouts in La Puente as they design and build their final projects.
Bob Flynn
Construction Manager

Bob Fynn manages the construction management process of charter school projects in the Northeast and Southeast regions. Bob works directly with the Regional Directors to identify sites for future schools, and acts as single point of contact for the Charter School Representative throughout design and construction and manages the Architect and General Contractor.
Bob has over 25 years of corporate experience in construction management, facility operations, and property management. Prior to Turner-Agassi, Bob was most recently Senior Property Manager at CB Richard Ellis on the Bank of America account. He was responsible for managing Construction and Operations for a portfolio of 6 million square feet of Critical Data Centers, Call Centers, Bank Branches and Cash Vaults. Prior to joining CBRE, he served as First Vice-President of Engineering & Construction for Countrywide Financial Corporation, the largest mortgage lender in the U.S. During his many years at Countrywide, he oversaw the construction and management of a 2.5 million square foot portfolio consisting of Call Centers and Data Centers in the West/Southwest.
Aarthi Sowrirajan
Regional Director – West

Aarthi Sowrirajan is a Regional Director for the Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund, where she manages the fund’s operational and business development efforts in the West and Southwest regions, including identifying potential charter school partners.
Aarthi earned her M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with honors from the University of Chicago. She serves on the Board of Directors of Equitas Academy Charter Schools, a high-performing charter school network in the Pico Union neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Tommy Frettoloso
Construction Manager

Tommy Frettoloso manages the construction process of charter school projects in the Central region.
He brings over 30 years of corporate experience in construction management. Tommy was formerly a Project Manager for CB Richard Ellis and Trammell Crow and has managed a portfolio of over 26 million square feet.
Tisa Goehner
Office Manager

As office manager, Tisa Goehner wears many hats to ensure the smooth running of the office and helps to improve company procedures and day-to-day operations. She’s also the first person you’ll meet when you visit, call, or email us.
Prior to joining Turner Impact, Ms. Goehner was a Showroom Manager and Executive Assistant to the CEO at jenny chase inc. showroom where she maintained over 250 active international and domestic accounts. Ms. Goehner is involved in her community, and volunteers at the VA Center every Thanksgiving. She graduated from Washington State University (B.A., Marketing).
David Leahy
Regional Director – East
Alexandria, VA
In his role as Regional Director, David Leahy manages the fund’s operational and business development efforts in the East region, and works to identify potential charter school partners.
Prior to Turner-Agassi, David was most recently the Chief Operating Officer for DC Prep, a charter school management organization (CMO) serving over 900 students on 3 campuses in Washington, DC. In that role, he was responsible for operations, human resources administration, finance, and real estate.
Prior to DC Prep, David was an Associate Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund and served 3 years as Director of Financial Planning for Charter Schools USA. David also spent two years as a high school teacher in Pensacola, Florida, where he gained meaningful firsthand experience. David is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.A., Cum Laude), of Wake Forest University (M.B.A) and of the University of Portland (M.A. Teaching).
Hanna Kamaric
Analyst

As an Analyst for the Turner Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund, Hanna Kamaric is responsible for financial modeling, managing fund finances and supporting Regional Directors in underwriting, analyzing, negotiating and executing investment opportunities.
Hanna is passionate about expanding education opportunities for all, and is assisting on a grassroots campaign for the LAUSD school board, canvassing and managing the social media account. She’s interested in understanding how individuals can be incentivized to act for a collective good, and is currently working with a professor from UCLA to write about the effects that social movements have on social and public policy.
Hanna is a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences and The Wharton School (B.A., Honors, Biology; B.S., Honors, Finance).
Ramiro Viramontes
Director of Construction Services

Ramiro Viramontes is the Director of Construction Services of Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund. Ramiro brings over 25 years of corporate experience in construction management, facility operations, and property management. Ramiro is responsible for all charter school construction projects, including Design Development, Green Building Sustainability, Pre-Construction and Construction Management. He has been involved in the development of over 100 charter schools across the country.
Prior to Turner-Agassi, Ramiro was a Vice President of Construction Services at Pacific Charter School Development (PCSD) where he oversaw the portfolio of facility development projects for Aspire Public Schools, and other Charter School Management Organizations.
In his spare time, Ramiro has served on several boards and committees for schools in California and New York. He is a member of the United States Green Building Council and Harvard’s Environmental Club.
Liat Bishko
Regional Director – Northwest

As a Regional Director for the Northwest Region, Liat Bishko manages the fund’s operational and business development efforts in Northern California, Pacific Northwest, Utah and Colorado.
Prior to joining Turner-Agassi, Liat was a real estate consultant to KIPP Bay Area Schools, a charter school management organization, where she helped develop a long-term facilities strategy for existing and future schools. Prior to her work at KIPP Bay Area Schools, Liat focused on undervalued real estate opportunities as a partner in a real estate investment organization and was an Assistant Vice President working on real estate strategy at Avenue Capital Group, a global investment firm. While at Avenue Capital, Ms. Bishko managed, operated and implemented strategies to enhance the value of activist investments in distressed residential and resort real estate. Ms. Bishko is also on the advisory board to Bullis Charter School in Los Altos, California.

Shannon Dwyer

Shannon Dwyer is an Associate with the Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund, where she supports regional directors in underwriting, analyzing, negotiating, and executing investment opportunities.
Prior to joining Turner Impact Capital, Shannon served as a strategic analysis manager for the fast-growing start-up, Dollar Shave Club, managed public equities for a $10 billion investment fund, and worked as an investment banking analyst with the Blackstone Group in New York.Shanon volunteers with Minds Matter, where she mentors low-income high school students. Over the course of her six years with the program, she’s seen many students graduate and go on to college, some of whom she stays in touch with and continues to mentor.
Shannon graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was named Wharton Woman of the Year. She volunteers with Minds Matter, mentoring low-income high school students who she helps graduate and go on to college, as well as enter the workforce.
Alex Shawe
Regional Director - East

In his role as Regional Director, Alex Shawe manages the fund’s operational and business development efforts in East Region.
Prior to joining Turner-Agassi, Alex was the General Counsel and Managing Director of Real Estate for KIPP DC, a charter school management organization currently serving over 5,100 students enrolled at 16 schools in Washington, D.C. Alex also served as the KIPP Foundation’s lead real estate consultant for five years, providing real estate development assistance for the national network of schools serving almost 70,000 students. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for KIPP Baltimore.
Alex is a graduate of Williams College (B.A., cum laude), and the University of Virginia School of Law.
Debbie Rumbo
Administrative Assistant

As an administrative assistant, Debbie Rumbo is responsible for maintaining correspondence, processing legal documents, screening calls and greeting guests. Debbie is excited to work for Turner Impact Capital, since it combines her interests in non-profit work and finance. Debbie has previously worked at Guggenheim Partners and Face Forward LA.
Debbie is a volunteer with LA’s Best, a non-profit that funds afterschool programs in underprivileged areas. She’s also a member of the South LA Democratic Club, right next door to her alma mater USC. Her work with the club focuses on keeping citizens informed about upcoming ballot initiatives, as well as providing them a forum to discuss their concerns.
Debbie graduated from the University of Southern California (B.A. Political Science, B.A. Philosophy and minor in Human Rights).
Antonio Gonzalez
Regional Director – Texas & Central

As a Regional Director, Antonio Gonzalez is responsible for underwriting, analyzing, negotiating and executing investment opportunities in the Central region. Having worked in charter school development since 2003, Antonio has built over 15,000 charter school seats.
Prior to Turner-Agassi, Antonio was a Senior Project Manager at Pacific Charter School Development (PCSD) where he oversaw the portfolio of facility development projects for Green Dot Public Schools, Alliance and other Charter School Management Organizations.
Antonio has a longstanding interest in charter schools and education. He was a founding board member of Equitas Charter Academy and currently serves as a founding board member and Vice Chair of Chicago Collegiate Charter School. Antonio is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (B.A. Architecture) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Master in City Planning with a concentration in Housing, Community and Economic Development).
Brad Kettelle
Providence, RI
As a Senior Construction Manager for Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund, Brad manages the construction management process of charter school projects in the Eastern regions. Brad works directly with the Regional Directors to identify sites for future schools, and acts as single point of contact for the Charter School Representative throughout design and construction and manages the Architect and General Contractor.
Brad is a licensed general contractor and electrician with more than 35 years of field and business administration experience in the construction industry. Known for his strict adherence to maintaining project budges and schedules, Brad provides direction and technical oversight of complex, high profile construction jobs. Prior to Turner-Agassi, Brad was most recently Vice President and Senior Project Manager at Blackwell Construction where he built a portfolio of 50 charter schools in the state of California, 62 live/work condominium units; and numerous projects worth $15 million annually. Prior to Blackwell, he worked with Worldwide Projects Unlimited where he supervised construction of five new Gamework facilities in KY, MN, and WA.& FL
Brad attended Roger Williams College in Bristol, Rhode Island with Architecture curriculum.
Ryan Taylor
Associate

Ryan Taylor is an Associate at Turner Impact Capital focused on its Multifamily Housing Initiatives and is responsible for acquisitions underwriting, due diligence, and management of portfolio assets.
Prior to joining Turner Impact Capital, Ryan was an Acquisitions Associate for GTIS Partners, a global real estate private equity firm, where he focused primarily on domestic opportunistic residential acquisition and development opportunities.
Ryan received a B.S. in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Kathleen Ball
Senior Asset Manager
Fort Worth, TX
As a Senior Asset Manager for Turner Impact Capital’s Multifamily Housing Initiatives, Kathleen Ball is responsible for overseeing the operations, performance, and resident experience across a portfolio of multifamily communities.
During her nearly 30 years of experience within the multifamily industry, she has held senior positions with Mid-America Apartments, Bell Partners, AMLI Residential and Trammell Crow, among others. Kathleen’s expertise includes property acquisition due diligence, building rehab and maintenance, new construction, budget development and control, resident and community retention programs, marketing and staff development.
Brian Gonzalez
Construction Manager
Los Angeles, CA
As a Construction Manager, Brian manages charter school projects in the West and Southwest regions. He works alongside Aarthi Sowrirajan in the pre-development and construction of schools.
Brian has been in the charter school facilities industry for 9 years. He started his career at Pacific Charter School Development where he worked with various CMOs in the Los Angeles area. Prior to Turner-Agassi, Brian was most recently a Project Manager for Alliance College Ready Public Schools where he was responsible for the development of new facilities for the Alliance in Los Angeles.
Brian is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University (B.A., Urban Studies).
Michelle Felman
New York, NY
Michelle Felman serves as a Senior Advisor to Turner Impact Capital and as a member of the investment committee for Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund I.
Michelle began her career at Morgan Stanley in the Investment Banking Division. She later joined GE Capital as a Managing Director of Business Development, where she was responsible for the acquisition of real estate and non- performing loans from the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), banks and insurance companies in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and France. She also served as the Executive Vice President – Acquisitions of Vornado Realty Trust. During her tenure, she helped grow the REIT from a $3 billion equity capitalization company to a $16 billion equity capitalization company.
Michelle received her B.A. from The University of California, Berkeley with highest honors and her M.B.A. from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania. She serves on the Executive Committee of The Zell-Lurie Center at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a Trustee of Choice Properties (CHP- TSX). She is also a Trustee of The Partners Group (PGPHF), a global private equity firm where she serves as the Chair of the Investment Oversight Committee.
She was a former trustee of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York and is currently teaching at the Columbia Business School.
