Dr. Uday Shanker Dixit
IIT Guwahati
Dr. Uday Shanker Dixit received B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from erstwhile University of Roorkee (now Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee) in 1987, M.Tech. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1993, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1998. He has worked in two industries— HMT, Pinjore and INDOMAG Steel Technology, New Delhi, where his main responsibility was designing various machines. Dr. Dixit joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, in 1998, where he is currently a Professor. He was also the Officiating Director of Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar from February 2014 to May 2015. Dr. Dixit is actively engaged in research in various areas of design and manufacturing since last about 30 years. Most of his research work is focused on Modelling of Manufacturing Processes and involves finite element analysis of elastoplastic problems. He has authored/co-authored 118 journal papers, 111 conference papers, 31 book chapters and 7 books in mechanical engineering. He has also co-edited 7 books related to manufacturing. He has guest-edited 11 special issues of journals. Presently he is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Institution of Engineers (India), Series C and Regional Editor Asia of International Journal of Mechatronics and Manufacturing Systems. He has guided 12 doctoral and 44 masters’ students. Dr. Dixit has investigated a number of sponsored projects and developed several courses including a NPTEL course on Engineering Mechanics.
Dr. Janakarajan Ramkumar

Dr. Janakarajan Ramkumar is Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department, and Design Program, at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He teaches manufacturing science, micro/nano technology, new product development. He has a bachelors in Production Engineering with his doctorate in Defect quantification in drilling of composites from IIT Madras, India with a best thesis award. Over the years his contribution in teaching and research is remarkable. He has worked for BOSCH group and improved the productivity of the company. His research and teaching focus is on nano technology and inclusive design. He has several international and national patents in his credit and has published more than 200 journal papers.
Dr. Amandeep Singh
IIT Kanpur
Dr. Amandeep Singh is working as Research Establishment Officer at Imagineering Laboratory, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. He holds PhD degree from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, and a bachelor degree in Production Engineering. Dr. Singh has 15 years of industrial and academic experience. His research interests are Sustainable Manufacturing Processes and Systems, Simulation of Manufacturing Systems, Product Design and Manufacturing, Applied Ergonomics and Engineering Metrology. He has traveled in countries like US, Canada, and Australia to present his research in various international conferences organized by reputed bodies like CIRP and IEOM. He is working on multiple sponsored projects funded by government bodies like BIRAC, DST, SERB. Four patents in his name and his research is published in various international reputed journals.
Prof. Nilesh J Vasa

Dr. N J Vasa is a Professor in the Department of Engineering Design at Indian Institute of Technology Madras. His research interests include, laser assisted surface treatment technique for photovoltaic & micromanufacturing applications, laser assisted gas sensing & combustion analysis, development of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy technique for elemental analysis: space application, surface pollution detection, optical coherence tomography technique for dental application, compact trace-gas sensor based on uv-photoionization.
Dr. Shrikrishna N Joshi

Dr. Shrikrishna N Joshi has completed his doctoral studies in the area of Intelligent process modeling and optimization of electric discharge machining process
from IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India in 2009. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. He was a visiting faculty at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand in 2015. His research interests include mechatronics and manufacturing automation, process modelling and optimization of advanced and precision manufacturing processes such as laser-based forming, laser micro-machining, electric discharge-based alloying, thin-wall machining and single point diamond turning. He has published about 60 research papers and twelve book chapters in refereed international journals and conferences and has co-edited two books on Laser-based manufacturing
with Springer. He has handled sponsored and consultancy projects of worth one crore. Four students have received PhD degrees under the supervision of Dr. Joshi and right now, about 7 students are working on cutting-edge research problems. Dr. Joshi has developed a NPTEL SWAYAM MOOC course on Automation in Manufacturing
. He has also created a web-based course on Mechatronics and Manufacturing Automation
under the scheme of NPTEL.

Dr. C P Paul
RRCAT Indore
Dr. C P Paul is leading a research group in area of Laser Additive Manufacturing (LAM) as Head, Laser Additive Manufacturing Laboratory at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT). He has over 15 years of experience in research and development of LAM, from system development to its applications in engineering and prosthesis. His research programs focus on next generation additive manufacturing system and processes. To this end, his group explores novel techniques to develop advanced materials, innovative products, modeling and simulation tools, and holistic in-situ and ex-situ characterization techniques. He is instrumental in promoting LAM technology in India through collaborations with other national labs and reputed academic institutes by extending the indigenous developed facility for experiments. He has contributed chapters to twelve books and published over 100 research papers.

Professor Ramesh Singh is a faculty at ME Department, Machine Tools Lab, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His field of research include High-speed micromachining, Flexible reconfigurable fiber laser-based materials processing, Novel finishing techniques and functional characterization of precision finished surfaces, Finite element modeling.
Dr. I A Palani

Dr. I. A. Palani is working as Associate Professor in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering IIT Indore. After completing his Doctorate from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, He worked as a post doctoral research scientist in Graduate school of Information science and electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan. He has developed Mechatronics and Instrumentation Lab at IIT Indore. His area of expertise includes laser assisted surface processing, micro-machining, Smart materials and shape memory alloys. He has published more than 100 international journal publications and he has filed 6 Indian Patents. He has executed project from different funding agencies such as DST, SERB, DAAD, JSPS, DRDO, MHRD worth 6 crores. He has received Alumni award for the year 2015 under research and innovation. He is a recipient of Kyushu university friendship scholarship and AICTE National doctoral fellowship. He is a member of SPIE, Indian Laser Association, Institute of Smart Materials and Structures. He was a founding Head of Metallurgy Engineering and Material Science at IIT Indore, Followed by heading the Mechanical Engineering Discipline at IIT Indore. Currently he is the Dean Research and Development at IIT Indore.
Dr. S Kanmani Subbu

Kanmani Subbu S has published 60 research papers in refereed international journals and conferences. He has guided and graduated 1 PhD student, 13 M. Tech students and 13 B. Tech students. He has conducted 2 GIAN workshops and 2 national level short terms courses. He is reviewer for many peer-reviewed International Journals. He is member of an IEI and ISME, India. His research interests include conventional and non-conventional machining, laser surface treatment, additive manufacturing, composite fabrication and machining.
