Ph.D. Programme Opportunity for Students from Ladakh at IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi & IIT Bombay

 

Online Applications are invited for the sponsored Ph.D. programme for the Academic Session 2024-25 from students from Ladakh in Computer Science, Energy Science, Mechanical Engineering, and related disciplines.

 

Total “7” seats are available.

 

Students must produce a final eligible degree/degree completion/provisional certificate, along with proof of permanent residence in Ladakh (as relevant - Aadhar Card / Passport / PAN Card / Voter’s ID Card / Driving License / Any other government document that certifies permanent residence in UT Ladakh).

 

The last date to apply for the Ph.D. programme is June 30th, 2024.

Note 1: No application fee is applicable for applying to the course.

 

Note 2: All selected Ph.D. Candidates must execute a compulsory Service Bond to serve in the UT of Ladakh, for a prescribed period of 03 years immediately after the completion of the course (Link for Notification & Compulsory Service Bond Format)

Educational Qualifications for Admission to the Ph.D. Programme:

 

The candidate must have a relevant degree in Computer Science, Energy Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.

 

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Ph. D. Programme:

 

The specified minimum marks/CPI (Cumulative Performance Index), implies a minimum of 55 percent marks /5.5 (on a 10-point scale) as long as it is not less than the minimum pass marks/CPI; otherwise, the specified minimum marks/CPI implies the minimum pass marks/CPI.

 

(i) A Master's degree in Engineering with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum.

 

Or

 

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) with a minimum of 75 percent marks/7.5 CPI and a valid GATE score (the requirement of GATE score is waived for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the centrally funded technical institutes (CFTIs)).

 

Or

 

a Master's degree in Science or an allied area while satisfying each of the following three criteria:


(a) a minimum of 65 percent marks/6.5 CPI in the Master's degree,
(b) first division in bachelor's degree, and
(c) Valid JRF Score or higher in GATE score.  

 

For admission into PhD in Computer Science and Engineering, applicants with a Master's in Computer Applications while satisfying each of the above criteria in (a), (b), and (c) may also be considered.

 

(ii) A valid GATE score is required for the candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, except for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the centrally funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). The candidates with a Master’s degree in Science must either have a valid GATE score or must have qualified for/in JRF/NET.

 

Admission Procedure for Ph.D.

 

The applicants must apply for admission on prescribed forms (online). All eligible applications will be reviewed based on the eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement.

 

All shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview (on or off-line), and their performance in the interview shall also form the basis of the final selection.

 

A candidate belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/EWS category will be entitled to a relaxation in the qualifying marks in the admission process following the Government notifications.
