This session will
focus on the diverse problems and challenges facing women
mathematicians in different parts of the world. Panellists from
a variety of backgrounds will briefly describe the situation in
their region and, where appropriate, tell us about initiatives
which have been taken to bring women together and help advance
their careers.
The general discussion which this will generate, will be a
chance to understand and share the varied situations of women in
different cultures, and to explore activities and actions which
participants suggest might be helpful. We anticipate that this
unique opportunity to meet women mathematicians from around the
world will be full of interest and inspiring to everyone,
besides leading to new contacts and hopefully some practical
outcomes. |
