Arrival by Air:

Applicants coming to Kanpur by air are strongly recommended to fly into Lucknow Airport. Lucknow airport is located about 90 Km. from IIT Kanpur. You can hire prepaid taxis at the airport or contact the taxi operators whose details are given below. The typical cost will be around Rs.

2500‐3000 for sedan-type taxis. It takes about two and a half hours to drive from the Lucknow airport to the IITK. Kanpur also has an airport with limited flights. Kanpur airport is about 25 Km from IIT Kanpur, and it takes about 1 hour, and the charges are about Rs. 1200-1500.

Arrival by train:

• Please exit from Platform number 1 (called the Cantonment side).
• IIT Kanpur is located at a distance of about 16 kilometers from the Kanpur Central RailwayStation.
• Please hire a taxi or Autorickshaw.
• Autorickshaws and taxis will be available at Kanpur Railway Station at the Exit side of Platform No. 1.
• Autorickshaws fare is aboutRs. 300/‐ and taxi fare is between Rs. 600-700 from CentralRailway
• Station to IIT Kanpur Campus. It takes about 40 minutes to drive.

Arrival in IIT Kanpur campus:

• At the entrance to the campus, you need to stop at the securitycheckpoint which is managed by campus security.
• Let them know that you are here for PhD written exam in Department of Mathematics and Statistics. and they will allowyou. We will pass on the information to them before your arrival. You should ask for directions to the Mathematics and Statistics Department, 5th Floor in Faculty Building, IIT Kanpur , which is about 2 Km from the main entrance gate of IIT Kanpur.
• After reaching to department, Please report to the department office.
