Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and restoring the ecosystem are the most pressing problems of the current century, with an eventual goal of net zero emissions (NetZero). However, the path to NetZero is not straightforward and requires a nuanced approach involving various stakeholders.

The workshop will bring together various stakeholders from Kanpur, Pune and other regions to discuss this vital topic and develop a list of actionable items and approaches to move towards NetZero practices.

A group of nature enthusiasts, climate professionals, ecologists, economists, and technologists, including academicians, entrepreneurs, freelancers and professionals, met in Pune on 11th March 2022 to discuss the social, economic,ecological and technological issues on the road to NetZero. The takeaway from this workshop was an improved understanding of these issues and their interdependencies.

In the next phase of this discussion, we wish to develop an actionable approach towards NetZero or carbon neutrality. To brainstorm on this, 14 Trees Foundation, Ecological Society, Pune and Chandrakanta Kesavan Center for Energy Policy and Climate Solutions at IIT Kanpur are convening a one-day workshop at IIT Kanpur on 11th October 2022.

The workshop will bring together various stakeholders from Kanpur, Pune and other regions to discuss this vital topic and develop a list of actionable items and approaches to move towards NetZero practices.
