Ankit Rathore (BT/ME/2007) was a very passionate and entrepreneurial personality. He was a person striving for improvement in every field of life. Ankit was born and brought up in Agra. He completed his schooling from St. Francis School and Holy Public School, in Agra. In IIT Kanpur, he was always active in campus activities from starting itself. As a very amicable and friendly personality, he was very popular in his batch and was there for his wingmates whenever needed. He had a deep empathy for the weaker sections and was associated with various social causes on campus.
Ankit was placed in Tata Steel and joined in its Jamshedpur plant as Management Trainee. He was very vocal on interactions related to HR issues related to the trainee batch. He was the flag bearer of the payscale change of trainees. As a nature enthusiast, he would always go on bike and trekking trips with colleagues. He also completed a 10 day camping trip Darba Top, at 13000 ft height.

Always seeking growth in life, Ankit applied for higher education and was selected in the Masters program in IFP School, Paris. He excelled in academics in his Masters. Unfortunately midway, his mother was diagnosed with cancer. With a determination to look after his mother, he immediately left after his course work completed and returned for his internship, once his mother fully recovered. He finished his internship with Tata Motors and worked with their UK R &D unit for a year. He later joined another company and worked on next generation hybrid vehicles for 2 years.

Ankit was passionate about the cause that he took up. His interest varied from politics to agriculture to technology .He used to pour his heart into that cause and become very well informed in a short span of time. He was not satisfied with being an observer. He wanted to participate and shape the future by becoming actively involved. His drive to bring change in Delhi politics beckoned him to come back to India from UK.

He was very much affected by his mother’s cancer and was working to build a company in the delivery and supply of organic fruits and vegetables. He started doing good and was looking for investors to scale up his business. But alas! the tragedy happened and he left us for heavenly abode.

His passion used to rub off on the people around him. He could lift up the discussion with his informed remarks. And he was also one of those who would respect an informed opinion. With his level of passion and dedication, it is difficult to reconcile to the fate that he chose. Ankit will always be remembered for his friendly, helpful, passionate and tenacious nature. He has left a huge vacuum for people near and dear to him. He will be missed a lot. India, and IIT Kanpur, has lost one of the most passionate souls.
