Your generous contribution of ₹18.6 lakhs in the Academic Year 2025–26 towards the Opportunity School at IIT Kanpur has played a vital role in upgrading key facilities and enhancing the learning environment for all students. Detailed reports on the progress have been shared with you.

For many children at Opportunity School, education stops at Class 8- not by choice, but by circumstance.

At present, the school supports students up to Class 8, offering them a strong academic foundation and a nurturing environment. However, beyond Class 8, many students face a critical challenge. While some are compelled to discontinue their education, others who aspire to continue must transition to schools with significantly higher fees up to ₹3000 per month, compared to ₹400 per month at Opportunity School placing a considerable financial burden on their families.

Our Vision is to ensure that every child is able to complete at least Class 10, enabling access to better opportunities through higher education or vocational pathways.

To make this possible, we have initiated:

  • CBSE affiliation for Classes 9 and 10.
  • Upgradation and repair of school infrastructure.

The Phase II school building, a major milestone, has already been made possible through alumni support and will soon be operational.

CBSE Affiliation: One-time requirement of ₹1,50,000 for application, inspection, and formalities

Scholarships for Students

Scholarships will support students with tuition fees, books, uniforms, as well as laboratory and examination expenses. A corpus of ₹10 lakhs can generate approximately ₹40,000 per year, supporting two students with ₹20,000 each or four students with ₹10,000 each. With a planned intake of 30 students per class, expanding this support is essential.

Other requirements include the addition of teaching staff and strengthening key facilities such as a mathematics laboratory, upgraded science laboratory, enhanced library, basic sports infrastructure, and infirmary facilities. (These are expected to be supported through institutional and alumni contributions.)
