Sanjeev Shukla (BT/MME/1989, MT/MME/1994) passed away on April 24th, 2021 in Bokaro, Jharkhand. His sudden departure has left us shocked and deeply saddened. A wife lost a loving husband, two kids lost their caring father, both parents lost a devoted son, a sister lost an affectionate brother, his friends lost a kind soul who brightened their gatherings, … and the world lost an extremely nice human being.
Though a bit reticent, Sanjeev was known for a warm demeanor, a great sense of humor, and a gentleman with highly contagious positive energy. He always had a witty one-liner up his sleeve that would come in handy in diffusing the tension in a high-energy group discussion or to nicely conclude a long-running conversation. Sanjeev was very approachable and helpful to everyone. He maintained strong social bonds with many of us throughout these years. On multiple occasions, he went above and beyond to ensure that he was available to any alumni visiting his city of residence for any help and support they needed.
Sanjeev came from a family that believed in education being the top priority. With his hard work, strong determination, and never fading perseverance, Sanjeev made it to IIT. He had always set high standards for himself in all aspects of life. His core values of working hard and not taking any shortcuts for success, shall remain a source of inspiration and a standard for all of us to emulate.
Sanjeev was employed with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) - R&D division. Last year, he was nominated for the prestigious Government-sponsored program in Australia. Upon his return, he was promoted to General Manager R&D at the Bokaro Steel Plant.
Sanjeev is survived by his wife Anju, son Atharva and daughter Archita. They are currently residing in Kanpur. Archita is in her second year of Engineering at Kanpur University and Atharva is in XI standard.
The IITK 93 batch of students, as well as other individuals who knew Sanjeev across other batches, and friends from his school (RK Mission, Kanpur) seek to help Sanjeev’s kids and wife by donating generously to this corpus fund. We seek to provide monetary help to his family directly from this fund. Down the road we will decide how to set the distribution of this corpus through the years depending on the needs and the amount we are able to collect. We thank everyone in advance for their generous support.
Heartfelt Gratitude
