Giving Back

Through the generous contributions of late Mr. Jay Pullur (MT/CSE/1987) and Mrs. Nirmala Pullur, IIT Kanpur established the 'Jay Pullur Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation Laboratory' in the Cognitive Science Department. This laboratory will focus on cutting-edge research in Brain Mapping & Stimulation, making valuable strides in neuroscience. The reading room in P K Kelkar Library has been renovated & equipped with new furniture as 'Jay Pullur Reading Room'. An endowment fund has been created to support & promote neuroscience research. The fund will be utilized to organize lecture series, provide student scholarships, and offer travel grants to research scholars, thereby fostering growth and innovation in the field. The event was held on 21 July 2023 at IIT Kanpur.

At the launch of the Initiative, Mrs. Nirmala Pullur said, “ It is very heartening to see the initiatives taken by IIT Kanpur in the field of neuroscience. Mr. Jay Pullur’s desire to put India on the global map of excellence in science and technology will be furthered through this initiative. Every student and faculty who benefit from his benevolence becomes a part of his enduring story, and I am immensely proud to see his memory etched into the fabric of this esteemed institution, inspiring generations to come.”

Late Mr. Jay Pullur did his master’s degree from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering in 1987 from IIT Kanpur. He graduated in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, and is its Distinguished Alumnus. He founded Pramati Technologies in 1998, and was responsible for Pramati’s vision, strategy, and team building. He had actively served with various IT organizations in Hyderabad like, HYSEA, TiE Chapter, Nasscom Chapter, etc. He was in the software industry for 25 years and was responsible for building new products for the markets.
