Mr. Prakhar Bansal (BT/CHE/1994) and Mrs. Nidhi Bansal established Prof. J.L. Bansal Best PhD Thesis Award in Mathematics & Statistics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. This award honors the exemplary contributions of Mr. Bansal's father, Prof. J.L. Bansal, to the field of mathematics and his distinguished career in academia.

Mr. Rahul Garg (BT/EE/2001) established the DRG All-Rounder Award for B.Tech. students at the institute in memory of his late grandfather, Shri Deshraj Garg. The award will be given at the convocation ceremony along with cash reward and certificate starting in the year 2025 to a final year B.Tech. student from the Department of Electrical Engineering.
