To discover, develop and deliver novel, affordable and scalable therapies for tropical diseases, inherited diseases, cancer, infectious diseases and immunological disorders.
Possible outcomes:
- First-of-its-kind program to bridge pre-clinical efforts to clinical translation of novel biologics, hitherto untouched in India due to a lack of technological innovation and focused product development.
- Develop platformatised strategies for the treatment of multiple diseases
- Sustainable physical and human resource infrastructure to set up a pipeline of therapeutics for other monogenetic disorders and malignancies.
- Once the capacity is established, it is expected that the CoE will broaden its network to other academic institutions and industries.
- In the longer run, the availability of a dedicated therapeutics research unit at Gangwal School in IIT Kanpur, incorporating a cGMP core facility, closely aligned with several industries, will benefit patients and deliver high-impact “bench to bedside” science and advanced therapeutics/medicinal products for the country.
