- This test method determines the potential reactivity of aggregates with alkalis in Portland cement concrete.
Aggregates are crushed and sieved to pass a 300 micron IS sieve and retained on a 150 micron IS sieve. The reactivity is measured by the amount of reaction between 1 N sodium hydroxide solution and aggregates over a period of 24 hours at a temperature of 80°C.
