About Research Scholar Day (RSD)

The department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at IIT Kanpur will organize a colloquium entitled Research Scholar Day (RSD 2026) during 14-15th March 2026. RSD 2026 is aimed at celebrating and acknowledging the exiting research carried out by research scholars of the department. The 2-day long event will consist of technical talks from invited speakers and oral and poster presentations by scholars about their ongoing research. Not only will it provide a platform to discuss and share ideas, we hope that this event will also encourage budding researchers to collaborate with others through meaningful interaction.

Message from the Head

Greetings!

I am delighted to announce that Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Department's Research Scholars' Day (RSD) is being organized on March 14-15, 2026. This event provides a strong platform, dedicatedly to research scholars of the department, to share their research outcomes, to learn new paradigms of material research directions and to encourage learning from peers.

Apart from oral and poster presentations by MSE research scholars, RSD 2026 will also witness presentations from invited speakers, a metallography contest, and grabbing top spots in 3-minute thesis presentations. This event is a wonderful opportunity to learn not only what is going on in the laboratory next-door but also to avail avenues of exploring from outside one's own domain of research!

I thank the organising committee, both the student members and faculty and staff team, for putting up such a good program with meticulous planning, that will be evident in the presentations and interactions during RSD 2026. With past success of RSD and National Symposium for Research Scholars (NSRS), I can expect it only getting better!

I hope the event will be a platform to launch new ideas and collaborations in years to come.
