NCG-CORS Network (NCG-CN)

The National Centre for Geodesy (NCG), IIT Kanpur, has established seven Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) in April 2024, across India to form a well-distributed geodetic network. These sites are located at Anna University Chennai (ANNA), IIT Bombay (BOMB), IIT (ISM) Dhanbad (DHAN), MANIT Bhopal (MANI), IIST Trivandrum (TRIV), which are part of the Regional Centre for Geodesy (RCG) centres, and the rest of them are at BITS Pilani (BITS) and IIT Ropar (ROPA). The data from these stations includes the daily observation data sampled at a 30-second epoch interval, navigation data, meteorological data files with 5-minute sampling interval in RINEX 3 format and observation data with hourly 1-second in T02 format. NCG facilitates and monitors the data received from these sites daily. NCG also performs the Quality-Check (QC) assessment of the data of these sites using the RINGO tool (developed by Geospatial Information Authority of Japan), estimates the daily solution and generates position time series using GAMIT/GLOBK (developed by MIT, Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Harvard University with support from the National Science Foundation) and Bernese 5.4 software. For visualization purposes, NCG created a web interface in Python that provides a daily variation of the QC parameters (Multipath, Data integrity, Cycle-Slip Ratio, Signal-to-Noise ratio), position time series, and meteorological parameters (Temperature, Pressure & Humidity). From an advantageous point of view, NCG-CN data will help in providing the precise positioning, assist in various applications such as geophysical studies, meteorology, space weather, troposphere & ionospheric studies, play a role to be part in realizing the Indian Geodetic Reference Frame (InGReF), etc.
