International Women’s Day Celebration: March 8, 2025
The Women’s Association (WA), IIT Kanpur, proudly celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, with an inspiring and vibrant program. The event brought together WA members, campus residents, and esteemed guests to honor the contributions of women and discuss key issues related to empowerment and career growth.
The evening began with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a soulful Ganesh Vandana by Nagrekha. A nostalgic video presentation took attendees on a journey through the early days of WA and the IIT Kanpur campus from 1968 to 2010. A special moment of the evening was the felicitation of distinguished women for their exceptional community service.
A thought-provoking panel discussion on "Role and Responsibility of Family in Women’s Career and Empowerment" featured renowned panelists—Dr. Veena Bansal, Dr. Vibha Dikshit, Dr. Shatarupa Roy, and Dr. Namrata Gupta—moderated by Mrs. Swagat Bhandari Ranveerchand. Their insights highlighted the crucial role of familial support in women’s professional and personal growth.
Following this, Dr. Urbi and Dr. Debapriya delivered an informative talk on Cyber Security for Women, empowering attendees with knowledge on digital safety. The cultural segment of the program was a delightful celebration of talent and tradition, with melodious singing by Ruchi Singh and captivating dance performances by Mrs. Amrita Bhushan, the Nagrekha group, and campus ladies, choreographed by Amrita Bhushan and Zeeshan.
The festivities concluded with a Flowery Holi celebration, spreading colors of joy and unity. The evening wrapped up with tea and snacks, fostering camaraderie and warm conversations among the attendees.
