SIIC-incubated Startup Medantrik Holds Free Health Checkup Camp at IIT Kanpur

  • The camp offered lung function tests, chest consultations, physiotherapy consultations, and other essential tests

  • This initiative builds on Medantrik's previous lung health screening for Kanpur traffic police, underlining the impact of pollution on health

Kanpur, 07 May, 2024: In celebration of World Asthma Day, Medantrik, a healthcare startup incubated at Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur focused on improving health outcomes, successfully organized a free health checkup camp for residents of the IIT Kanpur campus. The event was held in collaboration with GSVM and Kcare Hospital, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of lung health in India. This initiative highlights Medantrik's ongoing commitment to making healthcare solutions accessible to all.

The camp offered a variety of tests, including full lung function tests, chest consultations, physiotherapy consultations, and other essential health screenings.

Prof. Sachchida Nand Tripathi, Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering, IIT Kanpur, shared his excitement about the camp, saying, "Certain airborne particles may contribute to lung cancer. Early detection of lung conditions can help people identify potential damage sooner. Utilizing the Nodex device from Medantrik Medtech will be as simple as conducting routine checks for high blood pressure or diabetes at home, allowing individuals to prevent severe damage."

Prof. Ankush Sharma, Professor in-charge, SIIC, IIT Kanpur, highlighted the significance of lung health screenings. “As per the Health Department's statistics, nearly two lakh people in the country lose their lives to asthma every year. With the help of Nodex, such individuals will be able to easily identify their symptoms and take their medication on time. Nodex will be launched in the market within the next six months."

This health camp follows Medantrik's successful initiative in August last year, where they organized a checkup camp for the Kanpur traffic police. The results of that camp were particularly concerning, as a majority of the officers, despite using safety measures, exhibited symptoms significantly impacted by pollution exposure.

Today's camp at IIT Kanpur served as another impactful step by Medantrik in their mission to promote health awareness and empower communities with accessible healthcare solutions.
