Role Description

This full-time on-site role located in Kanpur is for a Postdoctoral Fellow - Just Transition. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for conducting research related to just transition and its implications for India's economic development. Specific tasks may include analyzing policy options, interacting with stakeholders, and producing research papers.

Qualifications
  • PhD in economics, environmental science, policy, political science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in just transition, climate policy, and/or energy policy
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including experience with statistical software and econometric analysis
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with experience in interdisciplinary research
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and policy analysis

Based on qualification and experience, the candidate may be considered for a lower post.

The Just Transition Research Centre, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur ( https://www.iitk.ac.in/JTRC/) is a research center-based at IIT Kanpur, working with various renowned national and international universities, research institutes, government departments, and international agencies. Major areas of work include Just Transition, Energy Transition, Agriculture Transition, Water Transition, Public Policy, Financial Inclusion, Rural Development, etc.

Job Responsibilities

(A) Project Execution

  • To prepare a detailed plan for the timely execution of the assigned project(s)
  • To develop research tools as per Terms of Reference and Technical Proposal
  • Interact closely with the Field Data Collection team to ensure timely collection of quality data
  • To analyze data and write a detailed research report offering evidence-based solutions

(B) Proposal Development

  • To develop winning research proposal(s) in response to proposal calls
  • To prepare a PowerPoint Presentation and present it as and when necessary
  • In addition to the above responsibilities, candidates may also be required to train other junior researchers.
Eligibility
  • PhD or Master’s Degree in Statistics/Economics/any relevant department of Social or Mathematical Sciences
  • OR

  • Master’s Degree in Statistics or Economics with 2-3 years experience in a renowned industry
  • Computer savvy with excellent command over Written & Spoken English; to be adjudged through a test

Remuneration: CTC Rs. 8-9 Lakhs per annum, based on qualification, experience, and competence level.
