Applications are invited from Indian nationals {including Persons of Indian Origins (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs)} and foreign nationals for the posts of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors in the Departments of Aerospace Engineering, Biological Sciences & Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Earth Sciences, Economic Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Industrial and Management Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, Chemistry and Physics. Foreign national here means a person who does not have either an Indian passport, or a PIO/OCI card. Foreign nationals can be offered contractual appointment for up to five years. The appointment can be renewed thereafter. Several Departments also participate in the teaching and research activities of interdisciplinary post-graduate programs of the institute in Photonics Science and Engineering, Nuclear Engineering and Technology, Cognitive Science, Environmental Engineering & Management, Design Program, and Materials Science Program. Appointments for these programs are made in the relevant departments among those listed above. Minimum Qualification: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades) at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout. In addition, for: Professor: 10 years teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 04 years should be at the level ofAssociate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs. Associate Professor: 06 years Teaching/Research/Industrial experience of which at least 03 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor, Senior Scientific Officer/Senior Design Engineer. Assistant Professor: Minimum three years Industrial/Research/Teaching experience, excluding however, the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D. For a fresh Ph.D. the position will be on contract basis for the first three years and will be regularized afterwards. For those with three or more years of teaching/research/industrial experience regular appointment may be made. 1. The pay carries all other allowances as admissible to a Central Government employee stationed at Kanpur. 2. The benefits, such as HRA, LTC, medical re-imbursement, transport allowance, children education allowance, contribution towards New Pension Scheme (NPS), re-imbursement of telephone bills, book grants, research initiation grant (up to Rs 25 lakhs), financial support towards national and international conferences shall be permitted as per the Institute norms. 3. The Institute also provides an additional top-up salary of Rs 25,000/- per month for the first three years of service to the newly joined faculty members. After three years of service, the faculty member(s) are eligible for Young Faculty Fellowship (open for faculty of age upto 40 years) providing a top-up salary of Rs.10,000/- per month for three years, and/or Faculty Chair positions providing a top-up salary of Rs 25,000/- per month for three years. Both the positions are based on performance. 4. The Institute provides housing on campus to all faculty members. The houses are equipped with free high speed internet. Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate for being called for interview. 7. Applicants who do not fulfill the minimum experience requirements may be offered an appointment on contract. The requirements of minimum qualification and/or experience may be relaxed in the case of candidates with outstanding credentials. 8. Applicant not found suitable for higher positions may be considered for lower positions in the same area of specialization. 9. Reservation at entry level will be applicable as per G.O.I. norms. The candidates belonging to the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PwD) are required to attach the Caste/Category Certificate in the format as prescribed by the Govt. of India. The Institute follows the Central list in the case of SC/ST, OBCs & PwD. 10. The Institute reserves the right to withdraw any advertised post(s) at any time without assigning any reason. 11. Applicants called for and appearing in interview will be paid to and fro economy air fare/train fare by the shortest route and taxi fare from Lucknow airport to IITK and back. Please note that the amount of fare shall be remitted through electronic transfer by our Accounts Section after processing the claim. Local hospitality will be taken care by the Institute. 13. Applicants are also requested to bring with them all the certificates, testimonials and other relevant documents at the time of interview. 14. Applicants who are employed in Government, Semi-Government Organizations or Institutions should send their applications THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL else they will be required to produce a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from their employer at the time of interview. 15. No information will be sent to those candidates who are not short listed for interview. It is expected that the entire selection process will be over within six months of the issue of the advertisement. 16. Faculty Application ProcessDate of eligibility will be as on 31st August 2018.
All applications submitted online are available with the concerned Head of the Department as well as the Office of Faculty Affairs. The following steps are adopted for the evaluation of the applicants. Step 1: A group of faculty members of the concerned area of specialization gives its recommendation on the suitability of the candidates for a faculty position. Step 2: The candidates recommended by the faculty group are called for seminar. Step 3: Recommendation letters are sought from the referees of these candidates who are identified after the seminar. Step 4: The Department Faculty Advisory Committee (DFAC) shortlists the candidates on the basis of the application, faculty input, seminar and referee comments. Step 5: The shortlisted candidates are presented to the Institute Faculty Advisory Committee (IFAC) and are called for an interview.
