N. Rama Rao Chair

The N. Rama Rao Chair was established in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering with a generous donation from Mr. Narayana Murthy in memory of his father, Mr. N. Rama Rao.
Mr. Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy (MT/EE/1969) is one of the most distinguished alumni of IIT Kanpur. He is the Co-founder of Infosys and served as its Chairman before retiring as Chairman Emeritus in 2011.
Mr. Murthy began his career as Chief Systems Programmer at IIM Ahmedabad and later worked with Patni Computer Systems, Pune. In 1981, he founded Infosys, which went on to become a global leader in IT services. He has been recognized by Fortune magazine as one of the 12 greatest entrepreneurs of our time, and Time magazine referred to him as the "father of the Indian IT sector" for his pioneering role in establishing India as a hub for outsourcing. He has been honored with the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri by the Government of India.

Prof. Nitin Saxena

Prof. Nitin Saxena from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, has research interests in computational complexity theory, algebra, and algebraic geometry. His work has made significant contributions to algebraic complexity, including concepts such as rank concentration, algebraic dependence, and bootstrapping of variables, as well as classical problems in root-finding, factoring, and primality testing. He is a recipient of several prestigious honours, including the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, DST SwarnaJayanti Fellowship, INSA Young Scientist Medal, Godel Prize, and Fulkerson Prize.
