
'Late' Mr. Kamal Agarwal (BT/CHE/1972) received his MBA in Finance from the University of Maryland in 1975. He joined a Washington based company of Ship Brokers dealing primarily with United States Government Food Aid Programs and became a partner in the firm in 1983. In 1991, he founded a new ship brokerage company, Phoenix Chartering Inc. in Washington. He sold the company and retired in January 2005.
Mr. Agarwal instituted Satish Chandra Agarwal Chair in honor of his father.The Chair is open to all the departments of sciences & engineering.
Prof. Rohit Buddhiraja, from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, has recently led an effort to design the first indigenous 5G network. This 5G technology was transferred to the industry. He is now leading an Indian Government project from IIT Kanpur to design 5G+/6G standards. He also works closely with the industry, government organizations and R&D labs to investigate 5G+/6G wireless technologies. He is currently a vice chairman of Bharat 6G alliance, and a member of the governing council of TSDSI, India's standard develop organization. He has 25 years of experience in building 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G wireless systems. His current research interest is to design 6G wireless networks by using machine learning and optimization-based methods, and then investigate their performance by prototyping them. He has received CNR Rao award from IIT Kanpur for architecting and designing the indigenous 5G network, IIT Kanpur Excellence in Teaching Award, Visvesvaraya Fellowship and Early Career Research Award from the Government of India.
Prof. J. Ramkumar , Department of Mechanical Engineering and Design Program, research interests include micro and nano manufacturing, sustainable and frugal new product and process development. His prime interest and focus is to ideate, and develop, medical innovations that support the development of the society and facilitate smooth lifestyle for the specially abled. With full spirit and dedication, he has set up Imagineering Lab, a centre where Imagination and Engineering converge, to conceive innovations that are revolutionary and pioneering in the field. Currently, he serves as a member of board of advisory committees of IITs, NITs, GFTIs and for the AICTE.He is recipient of several fellowships such as Young Engineer award of Information Sharing and Analysis Center ( ISAC), India and Gopal Das Bhandari Best teacher Award by IIT Kanpur. He completed his doctorate from IIT Madras in 2003.
