
The Ministry of Labour and Employment instituted the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Chair. This chair is open to all the departments of engineering and sciences at IIT Kanpur. The Ministry is responsible for coordination of all skill development efforts across the country, bridging the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower, building the vocational and technical training framework, skill up-gradation, building of new skills, and innovative thinking not only for existing jobs but also jobs that are to be created.
Prof. Ankush Sharma (MT/PhD/EE/2001/2014), from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, works on power systems, smart grid technology, state estimation, IT applications in power systems, smart cities, multi-agent systems, wide-area monitoring and control of power systems, energy markets, demand response management, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur.
Prof. Saikat Chakrabarti, from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, works on state estimation of transmission and distribution systems, stability and control of power systems with renewable energy integration, operation and control of microgrids, modelling of generators and loads, and the planning and operation of distribution systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada.
Prof. Santanu Kumar Mishra, Department of Electrical Engineering, research interests are in the fields of Multiphase DC/DC Power Conversion, Power Management Circuits, Modeling, and Control of Power Electronics Systems. Prof. Mishra earned his doctorate from the University of Florida in 2006.
