Class of 1984 Chair

The Class of 1984 instituted The Class of 1984 Chair, which is open to all the departments of engineering and sciences, IIT Kanpur.

Prof. V. Shankar

Prof. V. Shankar from the Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, has research interests in the field of stability of fluid flows, flow past soft solid surfaces, electrokinetics and electrohydrodynamics, viscoelastic flows. He was elected as an Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore (2004-2007), and has received several prestigious accolades, including the INSA Medal for Young Scientists (2004), INAE Young Engineer Award (2006), Diamond Jubilee Young Achiever Award from the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (2007), and the Arakere Vasudev Young Faculty Research Fellowship at IIT Kanpur (2010-2013). He obtained his undergraduate degree from the Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi (1993), and completed his M.E. (1995) and Ph.D. (2000) from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Prof. Yogesh Singh Chauhan

Prof. Yogesh Singh Chauhan from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, has research interests in nanoelectronics, compact modeling and simulation of semiconductor devices, SPICE modeling of high-voltage and power devices, BSIM model development, and atomistic simulation of nanoscale devices. He is a recipient of the IBM Faculty Award (2013), Ramanujan Fellowship (2012), and an Honorable Mention at IEEE VLSI (2008). He earned his M.Tech. from IIT Kanpur and Ph.D. from EPFL, Switzerland, in 2007.
