Mr. Pawan Tewari is currently working as the Managing Director in investment banking at Goldman Sachs & co-heads the Technology Mergers & Acquisition business based out of San Francisco, CA, USA. He completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1988. The area of freshwater preservation and addressing the ever-increasing trend of soil, water and air pollution is an area of keen interest to the donor and hence the faculty chair endowment will be established to fund research on these topics. The Sustainability Faculty Endowment will be established to fund honorarium and research grant of a Professor at IIT Kanpur to promote focused research on freshwater resources and environmental degradation that affects human and planetary health.
The generous contributions by Mr. Pawan Tewari, with an objective to support the establishment of this Faculty Chair at IITK, will be utilized for carrying out the following activities:
Prof. Tarun Gupta, Department of Civil Engineering, specializes in Environmental Engineering, Atmospheric Chemistry, Air Pollution and Control, Engine emission, Aerosol instrumentation, Human health, and risk assessment. He did his M.Tech from IIT Bombay and PhD from Harvard University. He has published in more than 120 journals and is accredited with four patents, and two technology transfers to industry and BARC. Dr. Tarun Gupta has won many awards for his path-breaking research and innovation. He won INAE Innovator and Entrepreneur Award 2018, NASI Scopus Young Scientist Award 2015, INSA Medal for Young Scientist 2011, INAE Young Engineer Award 2009 & IEI Young Engineer Award 2008.
