Smt. Lata and Shri K G Karandikar Faculty Chair
Mr. Ashish Karandikar (BT/EE/1995) established the Smt. Lata and Shri K. G. Karandikar Faculty Chair in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. This Chair is aimed at fostering innovation, academic excellence, and research-driven growth within the department. Mr. Karandikar is Vice President of Engineering at NVIDIA, Santa Clara, California, USA. He joined NVIDIA in 2003 and has since played a significant role in the company's technological advancement.

Prof. Nishchal Kumar Verma, from the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Kanpur, works on the theoretical development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning, with applications in electrical engineering and various interdisciplinary fields. His research areas include large language models, intelligent instrumentation, control, automation, computer vision, prognosis and health management of machines, bioinformatics, and cyber-physical systems, among others. He has been recognized with the Teaching Excellence Award (2024) and research fellowships from UNEC Azerbaijan (2023) and the University of Tennessee (2010, 2022), along with the Devendra Shukla Fellowship (2013).
