He is also an Assistant Professor at Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, IIT Bombay. Dr. Mukhopadhyay did his Masters in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2006. He subsequently earned his doctorate from Oxford University in 2009 and served a a Post Doctoral Research Associate at Brown University. He later joined as a Research Associate at IIT Kanpur from July 2006 to September 2006.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay’s primary research focus has been on electrode materials, solid electrolytes and full cell developments for electrochemical energy storage technologies (viz., alkali metal-ion batteries; such as Li-ion, Na-ion, K-ion batteries), including development of all-solid-state Li-ion batteries (both miniature and bulk) possessing enhanced energy densities, power densities and cycle life. His research also involves understanding of the processing - structure - property relationships, through critical analysis of the microstructural development and mechanical, physical and tribological properties of various ceramic-based composites, which includes different advanced structural ceramics, carbon nanotube (CNT) reinforced ceramic composites as well as ultra-high temperature ceramics.
