Dr. Gurmukh D Mehta

Dr. Gurmukh D. Mehta is a former Senior Technical Fellow, Senior Scientist, and Vice President at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), USA. SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) is a U.S.-based technology company that provides engineering, digital, and mission support services primarily to government and defense agencies. Its areas of work include information technology, systems integration, cybersecurity, and advanced engineering solutions.



Profile

Dr. Gurmukh D. Mehta grew up in New Delhi and completed his early education under Punjab University, graduating from Guru Nanak Engineering College in 1967 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Honors), topping his class and receiving a Gold Medal. After brief professional engagements at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center and the Durgapur Steel Plant, he joined IIT Kanpur, earning his M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering in 1969 with a perfect 10.0/10.0 CPI. He later completed his Ph.D. in Engineering at Brown University in 1974, again maintaining a 4.0/4.0 GPA.
After research roles at Hydronautics and InterTechnology Corporation, he joined Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in 1981. Over three decades, he supported the U.S. Navy in the design, development, testing, and simulation of the Tomahawk Cruise Missile and other major programs. He retired in 2012 as Senior Technical Fellow, Senior Scientist, and Vice President.
A Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Dr. Mehta has served as International Executive Advisor and Chairman of the ASME Washington, D.C. Section, receiving multiple Dedicated Service Awards over 50 years. Dr. Mehta has been an active member of Radha Soami Satsang Beas and Science of the Soul International for more than five decades. A committed supporter of academic excellence, he continues to contribute to IIT Kanpur through initiatives such as the Mehta Faculty Chair and the Mehta M.Tech Gold Medal (M-cubed Award).
