Dr. Snigdha Chaturvedi

Dr. Snigdha Chaturvedi is an Assistant Professor at University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. Her areas of interest include Natural language understanding, narrative understanding, social NLP, applications of ML and NLP.






Profile

Dr. Chaturvedi did her B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering in 2009 from IIT Kanpur. She completed her PhD in Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park working with Dr. Hal Daume III in 2011. Prior to working at UNC, she was an Assistant Professor at UC-Santa Cruz and a postdoctoral researcher in Dan Roth's group at the University of Pennsylvania and University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.Dr. Chaturvedi was earlier a Blue Scholar in the Information Management team at IBM-India Research Labs, New Delhi from 2009 to 2011. At IBM-India Research Labs , she worked on problems related to text segmentation systems and data-cleansing.

  • Recipient of Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF), 2021
  • Winner of IBM Ph.D. Fellowship for her research in Cognitive Computing, 2015.
