Prof. N. Sri Namachchivaya

Prof. N. Sri Namachchivaya is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering and the Director of the Nonlinear Systems Group at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he has been a professor since 1985. He is well-known for his contributions to the fields of nonlinear systems, random dynamical systems, estimation and filtering theory. His research focuses on understanding noisy nonlinear dynamical systems and developing new algorithms and tools for the collection, assimilation and harnessing of data using multidisciplinary approaches from asymptotic methods, modeling, statistical learning and simulations.



Profile

Prof. N Sri Namachchivaya did his B. Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1979 and an M.A. Sc.in Applied Mechanics, University of Waterloo, Canada in 1981. He went on to pursue a doctorate degree in Applied Mechanics, University of Waterloo, Canada in 1984. Prof. Namachchivaya is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award, Xerox Award, Mathematical Sciences Research Institute and Russell Severance Springer Professorships at University of California, Berkeley, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Fellowship, and he has been invited as a distinguished visiting professor at numerous institutions world-wide. He has co-authored over 125 scientific articles in journals and books, and has co-edited 12 books on nonlinear and random dynamical systems.
