Professor Ashoke De, Dean of Academic Affairs

Prof. Ashoke De is a Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. He previously held the position of Air Vice Marshal Harjinder Singh, VSM Class I MBE Chair of Excellence at the institute.

He received his MTech from IIT Kanpur in 2004 and PhD from Louisiana State University, USA in 2009. He worked as a post-doctoral scholar at the Technical University of Delft (TU-Delft), Netherlands and as a Research Engineer in the GE Global Research at Bangalore, India, before joining IIT Kanpur in 2011 as a faculty member.

Prof. De's current research interests encompass multiphase modeling, computational aeroacoustics, hypersonic flows, energy harvesting, and fluid-structure interactions. He has received numerous accolades for his contributions to fluid-thermal sciences, including the DAAD Fellowship, IEI-Young Engineer’s Award, DST-Early Career Research Award, GE Expertise Award, and the P K Kelkar Young Research Fellowship from IITK. He is an elected fellow of the esteemed American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the AvHumboldt Foundation, and the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology, and an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Prof. De has also served in numerous institute-level committees in various capacities throughout his career at the institute.
