PARAM SANGANAK CLUSTER
Effective August 2024, the PARAM SANGANAK cluster operates on a pre-paid, usage-based computing model. Users must recharge their accounts in advance based on their anticipated requirements for CPU core hours and GPU card hours. This model ensures a "pay-as-you-use" system for all researchers.

Access Types
Users can choose between two access tiers depending on their project deadlines and requirements:
- Regular Access: Standard queuing times and rates.
- High-Priority Access: Significantly reduced queuing times at a premium rate.
Account Types & Allocation
Users may opt for one of the following account structures:
- Personal Account (Individual): For researchers managing their own specific credits.
- Pool Account (Group): Students apply to join a "PI Pool." The PI (Supervisor) allocates a shared pool of CPU/GPU hours for the entire research group.

Application & Approval Process
- Portal: All account creations and top-ups are managed via the Office Automation (OA) Portal of IIT Kanpur.
- Location: HPC Services are listed under "Other Services" within the OA Portal.
- Approvals:
- PI Approval: Applications require approval from the Supervisor/PI. This is not applicable to Supervisor /PI own applications.
- R&D Approval: For financial processing, applications are routed online for R&D department confirmation.

The Old HARS Portal has been officially retired. No new applications will be processed through the HARS Portal. All new applications must be submitted via the Office Automation Portal only. The HARS link will be taken down shortly.
