The lab supports the professional educational needs of students across various disciplines while offering infrastructure for sponsored research and industrial consultancy. Equipped with cutting-edge CAD and CAM tools, along with advanced capabilities in shape acquisition, modeling, and prototyping, the lab has significantly expanded the scope of geometric shapes that can be realized for mechanical products.

Prof. Bishakh Bhattacharya
Lab Coordinator & Professor

Prof. Bishakh Bhattacharya

Prof. Bishakh Bhattacharya is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kanpur, India, and served as the HAL Chair from February 2021 to January 2024. He coordinates the Centre of Excellence in Telemedicine & Robotics and has held leadership roles in the Design and Cognitive Science programs. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Sheffield and IPS-Waseda University, focusing on structural health monitoring and robotics. Currently, he collaborates with Prof. Hiroaki Wagatsuma of Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, on Child-Robot Interaction and contributes to Indiaโ€™s NPTEL initiative.

Dr. Amandeep Singh Oberoi
Senior Research Establishment Officer

Dr. Amandeep Singh Oberoi

Dr. Amandeep Singh Oberoi is a Senior Research Establishment Officer and online course faculty at IIT Kanpur. He manages the Imagineering Laboratory, specializing in product development for defense, Agritech, and Medtech. With over 20 years of experience, his research focuses on sustainable manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and system simulation. He has secured funding from various national and international agencies and has received positive feedback for his MOOCs on NPTEL and agMOOC. Dr. Oberoi has also presented at international symposiums in the USA, Canada, Australia, and Egypt.
