The International Conference on Texture and Mechanical Behaviour of Materials (ICTMBM 2026) is organised by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, to celebrate the contributions of the Indian scientific community in the field of crystallographic texture and mechanical behaviour of materials. Faculty members and students of the department have been at the forefront of research in these domains and have led research in academia and industry in India and the globe. The conference is organised to provide a platform for the global scientific community to share their exciting research. The conference comprises Plenary and Invited talks by leading experts from around the world, along with a poster session for students. The conference aims to provide an engrossing atmosphere for young researchers to interact with senior researchers and each other to improve their research. The conference will also have two Panel Discussions on the Future Research Trends and Exploring Funding Opportunities to develop a collective vision for the community. ICTMBM 2026 invites students pursuing Doctoral/Masters/Bachelors degrees, postdocs, and early career researchers to present their work and engage in enriching discussions.

Founded in 1960, the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at IIT Kanpur holds a prominent position among the nation's leading schools in Materials Science and Engineering. Initially named Metallurgical Engineering, the department introduced its postgraduate programme in 1964. Over the years, it underwent a series of adaptions as per the need of the country and society, changing from Metallurgical Engineering to Materials and Metallurgical Engineering in 1993 and eventually transitioning to the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 2009.
Throughout its history, the department has maintained a steadfast commitment to educating and fostering the intellectual growth of young minds. This commitment is realized through the provision of quality education with a strong emphasis on fundamental principles, facilitated by an interdisciplinary curriculum.
