Major Activities

  • Stakeholder workshops: Several workshops with stakeholders will be planned with the objective of refining the work plan and identify the specific deliverables in consultation with the project partners.
  • Setting up a web portal: It is proposed to set up a web portal to archive the relevant literature and information on best management practices on flooding and waterlogging. We could also host the information on the workshops and training workshops of the knowledge center. All proceedings, manuals and field/pilot project results would be shared to the local and global community through web.
  • Consultative and training workshops: Apart from the stakeholder’s workshop, a number of scientific and consultative workshops will be planned on different topics to bring the scientists, farmers, NGOs, local communities as well as policy managers on board.
  • Pilot projects through community participation: It is proposed to set up a couple of pilot projects with the help of local communities to find a solution to flooding and/or waterlogging problems. The idea is to use the traditional knowledge as well as the scientific understanding of the problem to reclaim land or reduce vulnerability of the local community. The exact nature of these projects would be worked through discussions with the local administration and communities after the field visits.
