Expertise: Prof. Sri Sivakumar's expertise is in the nanomaterial’s (polymer based, carbon and metallic) synthesis and their surface modification. Develop a well-defined experimental plan and research strategy. This includes selecting appropriate sample populations, defining research objectives, and outlining the methods and techniques to be used. His responsibilities are design and synthesis of nanomaterials for the biosensor and surface modification. These modification with such as enzymes, antibodies, aptamers, molecularly imprinted polymers, or specific receptor molecules that can selectively interact with target analytes or chemical functionalization. Then, selecting an appropriate transducer, which will convert the biological recognition event into a measurable signal. Converting a biological signal to physical signal using nanomaterials. Will be responsible for the bio-element and a nanomaterials-based sensor-element (i.e., analyte, bioreceptor, transducer interface).

Expertise: Soft nanofabrication, Mechanics, patterns and instabilities of soft visco-elastic interfaces and ultrathin films, self-organized polymers, carbon, ceramics and hydrogels. Microfluidics and functionalization of nanomaterials. His responsibilities are design of nanomaterials and transducer interface. His expertise will help in combining the sensors and the bio-elements by matrix semi-permeable membrane; physical adsorption; encapsulation; covalent bonding and cross-linking.

Expertise: His expertise includes metal-nucleobase interactions, peptide/protein self-assembly, and programmable soft matter. Nucleobase and peptide scaffolds as artificial enzymes and disease models, chemical origins of life and biopolymer-mineral composites as bone formation mimics. His responsibilities include functionalization of nanomaterials for the sensing purpose. The modification of the surface of the sensor (bioreceptor) by antibodies, aptamers, molecularly imprinted polymers, or specific receptor molecules that can selectively interact with target analytes or chemical functionalization.

Expertise: Dr. Ateeq’s group is primarily interested in exploring the genetic and epigenetic changes that initiate cancer and its progression by employing novel strategies and approaches. Genomic characterization and potential drug screening. Her responsibilities will be identify potential biomarkers associated with specific cancer types of interest. This may involve evaluating candidate biomarkers based on their relevance to cancer and their potential for early detection or monitoring. Conduct experiments to discover and validate potential biomarkers. Techniques may include genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other omics approaches to identify biomolecules associated with cancer.
