Visitors to Hall of Residence—
1. Entry to Halls for guests/visitors, including parents, shall be permitted only if accompanied by the concerned
inmate(student/ research staff).
2. All guests/ visitors, including parents, should fill particulars in the register kept at the entrance of the hall.
3. Night stay may be permitted for guests/ visitors only if prior approval of the warden is obtained.
4. All guests/ visitors, including parents, should vacate the rooms of students by 0001 hrs if approval to stay
overnight is not granted.
5. Entry of vendors may be allowed only up to 1800 hrs.
6. All guests/ visitors will have to declare that they are not in possession of any firearm/
inflammable material at the entrance of the hall.
7. The vehicles and cycles of hall staff/ workers to be parked outside near entrance of the hall.
8. IITK male students entering the girl's hostel should show their institute ID Card to the Security Personnel at
the entrance of the hall and mark their entry in the register. In special circumstances they may be asked to
deposit their ID card with the Security Personnel.
Accommodation in Visitors/ Guest Room (GIRL'S HOSTEL) —
1. Entry to Halls for guests/visitors, including parents, shall be permitted only if accompanied by the concerned
inmate (student/ research staff).
2. All guests/ visitors, including parents, should fill particulars in the register kept at the entrance of the hall.
3. Guest room can be booked for father only if accompanied by the mother of the student.
4. Brother(s) or any other male relative of the student are not allowed to stay in the guest room.
Motorized Vehicles—
1. Students are not allowed to ply vehicles inside the campus.
2. Married students may be allowed to ply motorized vehicles if permitted by the DOSA. Others providing
permission from the DOSA may also be allowed to do so. All such students should be asked to submit a
copy of vehicle registration certificate, driving license and insurance cover note and obtain vehicle pass.
3. Vehicles brought by students (special cases) shall also require permission of the DOSA.
Pets—
1. The student shall not bring and/ or keep any pet (such as fish, cats, dogs, rabbits, etc.)
2. Student should desist from feeding stray dogs, petting them etc.
FIRE ARMS/ ANY SHARP WEAPONS
1. Storage or possession of firearms, ammunitions, explosives and inflammable goods by the students on the
premises of the hostel is strictly prohibited.
Others—
1. Do not leave any valuables like laptops, mobile phones, watches etc. unattended, especially at the fields
during physical activity.
2. Do not leave your room unlocked/unattended even for short periods of time. Try to lock your room while
sleeping and if not ensure that your valuables are stored in a safe space.
3. Carry the Institute Identity Card with you on campus at all times and cooperate with the security personnel
campus and when asked to produce it. This would help the Security Personnel ensure that you belong
to the identify those who don't.
4. Do not disclose the password of your e-mail ID, Debit Card, Credit Card etc. or other bank account details to
anyone. Avoid drawing money from the ATM in the presence of others.
5. Use a "Chain with Pad Lock" for your cycles as body locks and wire locks are quite easily opened by cycle
thieves.
6. Ensure that your cycle is properly locked while parking it. Unlocked cycles will be taken into custody of the
security guards and will only be released after proper verification of ownership after two days.
7. Write your name on the frame of your bicycle in bold letters to avoid exchange of cycles as well as to help
identify them in the above case.
8. Driving Motorized vehicles is strictly prohibited for students in the campus, even for those with a valid driving
license. You would require permission from the DOSA to do so.
9. Those in possession of motorized vehicles (Faculty, Staff, Research Scholars) should not allow any student
to use it on campus. It will be seized by the Security Personnel and released only after permission from the
DOSA.
10. You will need to take permission from the Hall Warden to allow a guest to stay with you at night. Security will
not permit unauthorized guests to stay overnight in the halls.
11. Parking of four/two wheelers by students in the campus is not permitted. You will need prior permission
from the Hall warden/DOSA.
12. Avoid going out of the main gate at night as there have been many fatal accidents on the highway.
13. Please report any security related problems or suspicious activity to the control room on 7999 or 7994. In
case of any issues, you can talk to the ASO personally or call him up on no.7254.
IMPORTANT—
1. Management of campus security is performed by the Assistant Security Officer (ASO) on duty. Guards are
can directed only by the ASO on duty and no one should make direct request/demand to them. If needed,
one call Control Room at 7999.
2. Complaints submitted by students to Security Unit should be duly forwarded by Warden In-charge/Warden
and DOSA/ADHA for Hall related matters and DOSA/ADSA for activities related issues.
3. Passes are issued by CEMMC. Security Unit will not entertain passes issued otherwise.
