Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the following position on regular/ deputation/ contractual basis in the National Wind Tunnel Facility (NWTF) and Samtel Centre for Display Technologies (SCDT) of the Institute:

  1. Position: Chief Research Engineer

Pay Band and Grade Pay: *PB-4: 37400 - 67000 + Academic Grade Pay of Rs.10,500-

Number of Positions: one (01); location: National Wind Tunnel Facility

Essential qualification and Experience:
Ph.D. in Civil Engineering/ Wind Engineering/ Structural Engineering + 10 years post Ph.D. experience in Wind Tunnel Testing for Structures (Civil Engineering and other Applications). In general Ph.D. is necessary for this position. However, exceptional candidates with M. Tech. + 15 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Specialization: Experimental/Wind Tunnel study on Civil Engineering structures/ Structural Wind Engineering.

Areas of expertise:
Designing of Models with back ground of Civil Engineering/ Structural Engineering/ Building Science and Technology.

Candidates with good academic record, along with capability of wind tunnel facility management, handling projects independently; and good communication and liaisoning skills will be preferred.

  1. Position: Principal Research Engineer

Pay Band and Grade Pay: *PB-4: 37400 - 67000 + Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 9,500-

Number of Positions: one (01); location: National Wind Tunnel Facility

Essential qualification and Experience:
M. Tech./ ME  in Electrical/Electronics Engineering + 13 years additional experience or Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering + 08 years post Ph.D. experience in Wind Tunnel Instrumentation and LabVIEW Based Data Acquisition Systems.

Specialization: Wind Tunnel Instrumentation and Motion Control Systems

Areas of expertise:
Hands-on exposure to design and development of LabVIEW based wind tunnel instrumentation is preferred.

  1. Position: Chief Research Engineer/Principal Research Engineer

Pay Band and Grade Pay: *PB-4: 37400 - 67000 + Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 10,500/9,500-

Number of Positions: one (01); location: Samtel Centre for Display Technologies

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Ph.D. in Materials/ Metallurgical, Electrical/ Electronics, Chemical Engineering, Physics or in allied areas of Engineering/ Sciences with a minimum 10 years post Ph.D. experience for Chief Research Engineer and 8 years post Ph.D. experience for Principal Research Engineer, a good part of it should be in an industry related to manufacturing in semiconductor device or allied products. However, exceptional candidates with M. Tech. + 15 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Specialization:

  • Work experience in senior and responsible positions in industry or R&D establishment, led teams of more than 20 persons, been involved in setting up R&D activities. Experience as Chief Operating Officer (COO) is preferred. 

  • Experience and skills to provide the leadership, management and work ethics necessary to ensure that a R&D centre has the proper operational controls, administrative procedure and is focused on deliverables at hand to effectively grow the centre.

  • Entrepreneur skills to nurture industry alliances and product development with the help of the cross-functional teams of industries and the R&D groups at the centre. 

  • Management skills are required to provide a work culture that promotes linkages between industry and academia and enable interaction between academic institutions in the country and internationally.

Areas of expertise:

Management, operations and up-gradation of semiconductor fabrication facilities, handling projects independently, good communication and liaison skills with the industry.

The pay carries all other allowances as admissible to a Central Government employee stationed at Kanpur.

The benefits, such as HRA, LTC, medical re-imbursement, transport allowance, children education allowance, contribution towards New Pension Scheme (NPS) and telephone bills shall be permitted as per the Institute norms.

The Institute provides housing on campus. The houses are equipped with free high speed internet.

Mere fulfilment of qualifications and other requirement laid down in the advertisement does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. Mere submission of the application will not entail a right for claiming interview. However, the requirements of minimum qualification and/or experience may be relaxed in the case of candidates with outstanding credentials. In case a large number of applications, Institute may set criteria for short listing of candidates.
Applicant not found suitable for higher positions may be considered for lower positions in the same area of specialization.

The Institute reserves the right to withdraw any advertised post(s) at any time without assigning any reason.

As per the entitlement, applicants called for and appearing in interview will be paid to and fro economy air fare/train fare by the shortest route (within India) and taxi fare from Lucknow airport to IITK and back. Please note that the amount of fare will be remitted through electronic transfer by our Accounts Section after processing the claim.

Applicants are also requested to bring with them all the certificates, testimonials and other relevant documents at the time of exam/ interview.

Applicants who are employed in Government, Semi-Government Organizations or Institutions should send their applications THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL. Else, they will be required to produce a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from their employer at the time of interview.

No information will be sent to those candidates who are not shortlisted for interview. It is expected that the entire selection process will be over within six months of the issue of the advertisement.
