Undergraduate Students

If you’re interested in the design, development, installation, operation or maintenance of just about anything that has moveable parts then mechanical engineering could be the programme of study for you. For more information, visit here.

At the undergraduate level, the department offers a Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) degree and a Bachelor of Technology – Master of Technology (B. Tech.- M. Tech.) dual degree in Mechanical Engineering. The undergraduate degree programs provide a solid foundation in core mechanical engineering disciplines, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through the academic program students also develop excellent written and oral communication skills, learn to work as a team and project management.

Academic Enrichment

A number of additional educational opportunities not formally required in the curriculum are available to undergraduates interested in exploring facets of engineering in more detail. These opportunities include participation in research, industrial internships, student societies, and seminars. Undergraduate research offers motivated students an opportunity to work closely with faculty and graduate students and gain first-hand experience in conducting research. Internship is compulsory for the undergraduate students, where students gain experiences by working in industries, and academia both domestic and abroad. Students work under the supervision of either a faculty member or an industrial supervisor. The position may or may not be salaried.

Dual Major in Mechanical Engineering

The department also offers dual major in Mechanical Engineering. The criteria for the admission to the Dual Major in Mechanical Engineering are available click here .

Minor in Mechanical Engineering

The department offers Minor in Mechanical Engineering in the following areas: Modern Manufacturing Techniques, Computation Techniques in Mechanical Engineering.
