Call for applications for Fall 2026 Semester exchange at Kyoto University (Japan) are open! Some points to note:
After ensuring that you fulfill the eligibility criteria of the exchange program, please fill this Google form to apply: The deadline to apply is 15 December 2025 Program differences: KUINEP courses are mainly designed for first and second year undergraduate students. About sixty five percent of courses target these years. GEA has departmental quotas, with the Graduate School of Management limited to two students per semester from each partner university. GESR is research focused. Health and wellbeing: There is no medical facility on campus. Only emergency primary care is available. Counseling services exist but cannot prescribe medication. Off campus medical facilities with English language support are limited. Applicants should consider their health needs before applying. Academic requirements: Minimum workload is seven courses per semester for KUINEP and undergraduate GEA, and four courses for graduate GEA. Attendance is mandatory to meet university and immigration requirements. Accommodation: Dormitory capacity is limited. Allocation is lottery based. In Fall 2025 about half of exchange students received dorm rooms. Application notes: Only Kyoto University designated forms are accepted. Certificate of Enrollment is no longer required. Admission is not guaranteed due to capacity limits. Re applicants must submit a full new set of documents. Language requirements from Fall 2026 KUINEP requires TOEFL iBT 72 or IELTS 6.5 or Form 5 for classes in English. GEA requires JLPT N1 for classes in Japanese. Native Japanese speakers may submit Form 5 instead. GESR requires TOEFL iBT 72 or IELTS 6.5 or Form 5 for research in English. For research in Japanese JLPT N1 or Form 5 is required. Applicants to GEA taking classes in Japanese must submit JLPT N1. Form 5 will no longer be accepted for non native speakers. All applicants taking classes in English must submit TOEFL or IELTS or Form 5.
