Who can Apply?

  • Students with B.Tech/B.E. degree in any branches of Engineering; B.Des and B.Arch with a valid GATE/CEED score. Candidates holding degrees in Fine Arts or Interior Design are not eligible to apply.

  • The candidates should have minimum of 55 percent marks /5.5 (on a 10 point scale) as long as it is not less than the minimum pass marks/CPI in their graduate degree.

Admission to M.Des

The printed application, must be received by the departments latest by 17th April, 2014. (along with all certificates and applications fee)

Ph.D IN DESIGN, DESIGN PROGRAMME, IIT KANPUR

Who can Apply?

The applicant must have a master's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Design with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum (i.e., 65 percent marks/6.5 CPI). Applicants with a bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Design (four years programme) with a minimum of 75 percent marks / 7.5 CPI or Master's Degree in Science or an allied area satisfying each of the following criteria may also be considered.
(a) A minimum of 65 percent marks/6.5 CPI in the Master's Degree
(b) First division in Bachelor's Degree, and
(c) Valid GATE/CEED score

Sponsored Candidates:


1. A candidate who is sponsored by his/her employer and who meets the additional conditions specified below will be admitted through a separate selection committee appointed specifically for the purpose.


2. A sponsored candidate must have been in service of the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of admission. The sponsoring organization must specifically undertake to provide full salary to the candidate and to relieve him/her to pursue the programme for its full duration.


3. Fulfillment of GATE/CEED eligibility requirement may be waived for such candidates. However, the sponsored candidates seeking admission to the M.Des/Ph.D programme who have not taken GATE will be called for interview and may in addition be asked to take a written test.


4. Sponsored candidates can apply ONLINE or send their application in hard copy by Post.
